Showcase your solo singing talent at Hot San Jose Nights!  If you think you have what it takes to compete and win you'll want to be one of a limited number of solo vocalists to compete karaoke style for cash prizes on Saturday July 14.  Finalists will compete on Sunday, July 15 at Hot San Jose Nights!  Entry is first come, first served.

A panel of local judges, will be scoring each contestant on a point system based on several different aspects including stage presence, performance, engaging the audience, and more.

Final schedule of contestants will be posted at www.hotsanjosenights.com on or before July 7.

Applicant Requirements:

• Must be a minimum of 18 years old as of July 14, 2012
• Must have an email address
• Be prepared to perform no more than 3 minutes and 45 seconds of singing promptly at your scheduled time. 
• You must choose a song from the list provided by the music coordinator and confirm with the music coordinator a minimum of 1 hour prior to your performance time.
• The Hot San Jose Nights theme is music from the 50s 60s, 70s, & 80s.  Keep in mind, this is a nostalgic event and will help your score!
• You must be available to perform on Saturday, July 14 between the hours of 10am and 6pm and if chosen to return as a finalist on Sunday between the hours of 10am and 3pm.  The winner will be announced at 4pm on Sunday.

Contest Rules:

• All Entrants will receive 2 all day passes to Hot San Jose Nights.  One for Saturday and one for Sunday.
• Contestants will be limited to no more than one 3 minute and 45 second performance per round. 
• If chosen for the Finals it is your option to use the same song again or to use a different song.
• Contestants who do not show to perform at their confirmed scheduled performance time will be disqualified.  No exceptions.
• Contestants understand that the time, manner and method of judging shall be solely within the discretion of the competition officials and the decision of its judges will be final in all cases. No appeals accepted.
• Judges will take the audience’s response to each singer in consideration when determining the winner but by no means is it intended to be the most important consideration.
• No musical instruments, props or back-up singers allowed during a contestant’s performance.
• This is a vocal competition – contestants will be judged on singing talent and stage presence.
• Performances must be family oriented equivalent to G rating for public performance. Any participant reflecting or exemplifying indecent clothing, vocals, or gestures will be asked to leave the stage and Fairgrounds immediately.
• Participants must obey all on-site backstage rules including no smoking, no drinking on stage, no pets, no guests, no touching band equipment and no access to private band areas.
• Any rules not covered under these official rules will be governed by Hot San Jose Nights and the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.
• It is agreed and understood that participants will not hold Hot San Jose Nights or the Santa Clara Fairgrounds, its agents directors, officers, employees, sponsors, or competition judges or officials liable for injuries sustained or illnesses contracted by them when in attendance and or participating in any phase of the competition.  Participants give their permission for their photographs or appearance in videotaping in connection with advertising or news coverage of Hot San Jose Nights Bay Area Idol.
